PERSONNEL FILE  //  DOLAND, SOUTH DAKOTA

About This Operation

Who's behind this? A loose confederation of extremely annoyed Doland residents who got tired of being eaten alive and decided standing water had it coming.

//

Who We Are

Not a nonprofit. Not a government program. Just spite with a domain name.
FILE 1 — ORIGIN

Operation: Doland Skeeter War started the way most good ideas do: a few of us got bit one too many times at the same cookout and decided enough was enough.

There's no 501(c)(3), no city budget line, and no official sanction. This is a neighbor-to-neighbor effort run by residents of Doland, South Dakota who were tired of losing every cookout to Culex tarsalis and figured the internet could help recruit reinforcements.

We are not affiliated with the City of Doland, Spink County, the State of South Dakota, or any agency that has to answer a public records request. If this were official, it would have a logo committee and a 40-page style guide. Instead it has a bunch of neighbors with buckets and a shared grudge.

Command Staff

Personnel files, redacted for reasons that will become obvious.
FILE 2 — PERSONNEL ROSTER (REDACTED)

For operational security — and because nobody involved wants their actual name attached to a website about murdering bugs in a bucket — command staff operate under callsign only. Job titles are self-assigned and not subject to review.

01 Callsign: DUNK

Chief Standing-Water Officer. Self-appointed after correctly identifying a clogged gutter from across the yard. Reports to no one. Answers to "hey, your yard's a swamp."

02 Callsign: PROBOSCIS

Director of Enemy Identification. Once misidentified a gnat as a mosquito during live reconnaissance. Cleared for duty anyway; morale was judged more important than accuracy.

03 Callsign: BUCKET BRIGADE

Logistics & Bti Acquisitions. Has bought suspicious quantities of Mosquito Dunks from the same hardware store three summers running. The clerk no longer asks questions.

04 Callsign: SIGNAL FLARE

Neighbor Recruitment & Flyer Distribution. Has personally guilt-tripped at least six households into checking their gutters. Considers this a full-time job. It is not.

05 Callsign: SPITE

Chief Motivation Officer. Runs entirely on caffeine and the shared memory of a Fourth of July ruined by mosquitoes. Helped rally the crew that got this off the ground. Has not fully recovered.

Why This Exists

Because nobody else was going to do it.
FILE 3 — RATIONALE

The town sprays the roads. The county and state run real, professional mosquito control programs — credit to them, that's legitimate work with a real budget. But none of that reaches the tire in your side yard, the clogged gutter, or the kiddie pool nobody's emptied since June. That part is legally, physically, and permanently your job: no truck, no crew, and no agency can roll onto your private property and drain it for you.

This site exists to close that gap — plain-language, no-budget, works-with-stuff-you-already-own guidance for the part of the fight that only you can run.

There is no upsell, no newsletter, and no app. Just a Bti dunk, a bucket, and a grudge — freely given.

Where We Get Our Facts

We are amateurs. Our sources are not.
FILE 4 — SOURCING & RESPONSIBLE PRACTICE

Every claim about West Nile Virus, Bti, or mosquito biology on this site traces back to a public health or regulatory source — not vibes. We link out to them throughout the main operation order, and again here:

Nothing here is medical, legal, or professional advice — see the legal annex at the bottom of the main page for the full, only-slightly-joking fine print. Always read and follow the product label; it is smarter than the command staff.
